Carefully cut along the marked lines using an appropriate cutting tool. Remove the substrate material to create the opening. If the niche does not fit directly between studs, install horizontal blocking or cross bracing to provide proper structural support.

Step 3

Insert the niche into the opening to confirm proper fit and alignment. Ensure the niche sits flush with the wall surface and is level on all sides before securing.

Step 4

Apply a continuous bead of waterproof sealant or approved construction adhesive to the back flange and contact points. Press the niche firmly into place and secure it to the wall framing according to manufacturer recommendations.

Step 5

Apply waterproof sealant around all joints between the niche flange and the surrounding backer board. For additional waterproofing, embed waterproof mesh tape if required by the tile system manufacturer.

Step 6

Allow sealants and adhesives to cure fully. Verify the niche is clean, level, and watertight before beginning tile installation.
