Product Description

Kelmore Silicone Finish is a low modulus, neutral cure silicone sealant with built-in mould resistance.

Available in a wide range of popular colours to match the Grout Flex15 colour palette, Silicone Finish is suitable for wall and floor tiling installations where highly flexible, waterproof joints are required.

Suitable for use with natural stone tiles, the neutral cure, low-odour formulation helps prevent migratory staining.

With excellent adhesion properties, it bonds strongly to porcelain, ceramic, glass, and natural stone tiles, as well as sanitary ware, PVC, stainless steel, and copper.

Silicone Finish is resistant to UV exposure and temperature extremes, making it suitable for both internal and external use in domestic and commercial environments.

Application

All surfaces and joints must be dry, clean, and free from contaminants such as dust, dirt, oil, or grease that could affect adhesion.

Cut the nozzle to the required width at a 45° angle. Carefully cut the tip from the tube without damaging the thread, then attach the nozzle. Insert into a standard sealant gun and apply the silicone evenly to the desired area.

Within 5 minutes of application, tool the silicone bead to ensure good contact and a smooth finish.

For a cleaner edge and to protect surrounding surfaces, masking tape can be applied adjacent to the joint. Remove the tape immediately after smoothing the silicone and before skinning occurs.

When forming movement joints within tiling installations, silicone joints should have a minimum depth of 5mm or the thickness of the tile (whichever is smaller). For joints wider than 10mm, the depth should be approximately half the joint width.

For deep joints, use a suitable backing material before applying the silicone.

Curing

Curing times will vary depending on joint size, ambient temperature, and humidity levels. Silicone Finish typically forms a skin after approximately 10 minutes and cures at a rate of around 3mm within the first 24 hours.

Coverage

Coverage will vary depending on the width and depth of the joint. As a guide, one 310ml tube will cover approximately:

  • 12 linear metres at a 5mm × 5mm joint size
  • 3 linear metres at a 10mm × 10mm joint size

Silicone Finish should be used in conjunction with installations carried out in accordance with BS 5385 Parts 1–5: British Standard Code of Practice for Wall and Floor Tiling.
